Matthew Maldonado “Coach Matt” brings an exceptional track record of elite playing experience and a deep commitment to player development to the Ball 2 Barrel Baseball Academy.
A celebrated high school athlete from Navarro High School, Matthew competed for seven years in select baseball, capturing numerous titles throughout his amateur career. This included winning the prestigious Perfect Game 16U National Championship in Florida, where his dominant performance earned him the recognition of Tournament MVP.
Following his amateur success, Coach Matt competed at the demanding NCAA Division I level for four years with Lipscomb University. During his tenure, he honed his craft on the mound, developing into a key pitcher and recognized leader within the program. His dedication and skill paved the way for his progression into the professional ranks, where he has spent the last three years competing as a pitcher.
In parallel with his professional playing career, Coach Matt has spent the past two years dedicating his expertise to coaching and training athletes across all levels, from youth players to collegiate athletes. He specializes in pitching development and biomechanics, combining his advanced knowledge of movement patterns with his hands-on professional experience to help players maximize their velocity, efficiency, and highest potential.
